When I started planning our wedding, I knew I wanted to tie needlepoint in. I wanted it to be special enough for the big day, but also be able to reuse it.
Instead of stitching pieces just for one weekend, I chose things that would feel special on the day and still have a place in everyday life afterwards.
1. Blueberry Shoes
I've never been a big 'shoe' person but I wanted to stitch unique things for my wedding that I could reuse. I had a pair of blank Stubbs and Wootton canvases from Lycette and could never quite decide what felt right to stitch on them. As our wedding design started to come together, I chose blueberries, florals, and hidden initials on the inside of the shoes
2. Loon Clutch
I wanted a fun clutch for my wedding weekend, and when I came across a bunny leather clutch from Lycette & Mopsey, I knew I had to stitch my own. It will definitely be making an appearance all weekend long!
3. Table Numbers
I knew I wanted to design table numbers, and I wanted an evergreen design, so I came up with these number burgees! I'm going to finish them like the Garden Club canvases, with a slot on the back so they can be attached to a pole and placed in the centerpiece!
4. Signature Cocktails
One of my favorite details: my sister is stitching our signature cocktails! Will chose a classic Spicy Marg, and I went with a Vodka Blueberry Lemonade (plus a Shirley Temple for the kids). I’m going to finish them as stand ups!
Whether you're stitching for your own wedding or celebrating someone else's, I hope this inspires you to create something you'll treasure long after. Some of my favorite wedding details are the ones that continue to tell the story once the celebration is over, and needlepoint is the perfect way to make those memories part of everyday life.
