Join us on Sunday, August 9th from 9 am - 12 pm for an irregular shapes finishing class at our Jersey City studio (278 Monmouth Street).

NOTE: Students should email a picture of their piece to Lita at Lita@nashvilleneedlepointer.com for guidance ahead of time. Lita will review the piece to ensure it is beginner friendly as well as advise if extra rows are needed. If preferred, students can email the studio at gracew@morganjuliadesigns.com and the studio will forward it to Lita.

In this class, we will finish an irregular-shaped ornament all the way from start to finish. This will be a no-glue method and students should be familiar with creating and sewing on cording. Ornaments must be 5x5 inches or smaller.

Each student will receive a project bag which includes matboard, batting, and craft clips. Students will be emailed a finishing guide with helpful videos after class.

The items below will be provided by Lita for usage for the duration of the class:

  • Extra Matboard
  • Extra batting
  • Invisible Thread
  • Sewing Needles
  • Sewing Pins w/ cushion
  • String for lacing

Students should bring:

  • Stitched ornament-sized canvas
  • Backing fabric of your choice (fabrics with a little bit of stretch recommended)
  • Perle cotton for cording in colors of your choice
    • This can be purchased in-store on the day of your class
  • 3 photocopies of your piece - black and white is okay!
  • Scissors (craft scissors and optional fabric shears)
  • Students should make cording ahead of time and bring it to class. Lita will have a cording station set up in case you don’t have the required tools at home.

About the Nashville Needlepointer, Lita!

After being introduced to needlepoint in 2020, Lita immediately dove in and began stitching everything in sight. She dedicated her free time to learning everything she could about canvas designing, painting, stitching, and finishing. In 2021, she launched NDLPT Nation and did first virtual “Finish Along” for the members of NDLPT Nation and started regular stitch zooms. In 2023, she started teaching in-person classes and found passion in teaching. Since then, she’s been invited to multiple stores to teach and has had the privilege of teaching thousands of students, some of whom have launched their own finishing services.

Canvas or Kit: Which is right for you?

Canvas

The Canvas is like your road map: it's a painted version of the original needlepoint design that you follow as you stitch your artwork. It doesn't come with any threads or materials — it's just your guide.

Kit

The Kit includes the canvas plus all the fibers and materials you need to complete the design:

  • The painted canvas
  • All of the fibers needed to stitch the design
  • A needle
  • A bag for fiber storage
